For the past couple of months my truck had been intermittently having a grinding noise/vibration in the front end. Generally low speed only, 15-25Mph. The noise/vibration would go away as soon as I shifted out of 2wd in to 4wd. After doing much research I figured it was the IWE actuator that was causing the problem.

I have replaced the solenoid valve and still have the noise on the passenger side only.The front end has developed a slight vibration grinding noise at low speeds. It happens when braking and accelerating from a stop. It happens only at slow speeds, 0-20 mph. Had it in to the dealer, but they could not reproduce the issue. Sounds a bit like I’m driving on shallow rumble strips, a rough road, or have giant off road tires on with the associated big tire road noise. I figured out going into 4H makes it go away immediately. Noise comes and goes. Has happened 8 times at least in first 200 miles.On the '21 F150's, Ford ahs done away with the vacuum system. It is now an electric motor at each IWE, that gives feedback to the "system" regarding position of engagement, ABS feedback, and maybe some other stuff. I don't know a lot about it yet.
