Jan 18, 2010 · Electronic Throttle Control indicator light. As I began to accelerate my jeep after making a right turn, the jeep stumbled and stalled. I looked at my instrument panel and I had the "Electronic Throttle Control" indicator light on. I turned the ignition and started her back up and the RPM revved up to 1500 and stayed there; it would not come down. Once in a blue moon I have seen these Jeeps get stuck with the controls, but usually on the steering wheel. I would first disconnect the negative battery cable for about 30 minutes or so, then plug it back in to see if the light goes away. It could also be a bad 4WD lock switch.
