Kimber micro 380 problems

Jul 9, 2017 · Apr 4, 2019. #1. I've had a Kimber Micro .380 for about 2 years now. It has always been very accurate and reliable, save for needing a new mag catch which Kimber provided awhile back. Yesterday I was giving it some exercise when suddenly the slide locked up halfway open. I can pull it back, but it will not go forward more than about half.

Last week, my new Kimber Micro Carry .380 1911 style pistol arrived. Kimber makes a beautiful looking product which is always nice, but, looks mean nothing if the performance doesn't match. When I loaded up a couple of 7-round mags and gave it a range test, I was smitten! Not only is the recoil light and smooth, but the accuracy was incredible! I had a really superb experience with Kimber service on the phone today. Short story, took only 5 minutes on the phone describing what happened with my Micro 380 and what our local gunsmith said and they have a new guide rod and spring in the mail. Longer story...Bought one of the first Micro 380's out last year ...Completely cured a FTF issue on my Micro .380. This slide stop has a slightly different magazine catch tab than the original that came in my Kimber Micro .380. This one completely cured the original’s tendency to lock the slide with rounds still in the magazine. The original would sometimes get actuated by the next round in the magazine.

I'm going to suggest you contact Kimbers customer service and discuss the problem with them. There were a series of Micro's put out with defective slide stops and Kimber was able to recognize the problem and simply sent out new slide stops to the owners. I also installed a stronger magazine catch spring, sourced from Numrich. It was for a Sig P938 and is about 1/8" longer than the stock Kimber spring and fits with no problem.Here is a short narrative of the events leading up to the malfunction. The slide locked back as if the magazine was empty. Which it was. She noticed that there was a live round in the chamber. She dropped the magazine and then the slide went forward.
