Be sure and fuel up before heading into DV. Pahrump or Beatty are both decent choices. Unfortunately neither are very close to Death Valley. Its the largest park in the lower 48 and pretty undeveloped in terms of places to stay in the park, so getting to/from civilization is a chore.
